Getting started
You will need a domain name and a web host to host your website and email. A website will have to be developed and maintained. I can provide all of these and make it easy for you. The best website framework to use is WordPress. That is what I use myself and I recommend to everyone. WordPress allows us to deliver both Static and Blog based content and also allows easy access to create, edit and maintain the website.
Your image, whilst keeping in contact with your clients is important and that is why we recommend you start straight away with your brand on an email address. Using gmail or sky email is not professional at all. We set you up with email attached to your domain that you can access through an application on your PC or MAC and through a basic web interface. You can have unlimited forwards and as many email addresses or ‘catch alls’ as you like.
Images
Images can be tricky as many people have fallen foul of copyright issues. If you know what you are doing, it can be easy to source low cost or even free images for all your needs. Some photographers require a mention and others just let you use their images. It is important to remember the source of each image, in case someone claims that it is theirs.
Secure HTTPS
Google Chrome is displaying “Secure” and “Insecure” to the left of the address bar from July 2017. It is advisable to get https:// on your website for this reason and the rumour that Google search engine gives preference to https:// sites. I provide https:// as standard.
Privacy
Your business details are available to all, but you don’t really want people to have your personal details. This is the reason we register all our dot com domains with the privacy option, unless asked otherwise. Nominet, the registrar for .co.uk domains keep details private by default since GDPR.
